ARTIST STATEMENT – Marilee Ford
Art has always been a part of my life. However, since 1997, art has evolved into a spiritual path leading me into a space and time that is as infinite as it is beautiful. Each of my pieces starts from a place deep inside of me—a thought, an idea, an image or just a feeling–that begs to be translated into something that I can kinesthetically and visually experience, as well as share with others.
My primary mediums are watercolor, acrylics and oils. However, I love anything with texture and fluidity, such as encaustic wax painting. I have also worked in clay, multi-media constructions, movement, poetry, music, and photography.
Now retired from nursing and my second profession, bookkeeping, I have once again returned to the studio. I am married to Rob Hendricksen, who owns Hendricksen Natürlich Flooring in Sebastopol. Our family includes two sons, two daughters, their spouses and six grandchildren, two playful little kitties and chickens, all of whom inspire me to continue in the creative life.
